Ursula Barzyk age 70, of Algonquin passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 17, 2024 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois. Ursula was the daughter to Karl and Irene (Nowak) Raida born in Rogow, Poland on June 5, 1953.
She is survived by her loving husband, George Barzyk; Loving and devoted mother of Allan Smith and Nina (Daniel) Morys, Richard Barzyk, Jason (Rebecca) Barzyk; Loving and amazing Nana of Nicole, Danica, Felix, and Zosia; Dearest sister of Teresa Adamski and Bridget Barzyk (Mark); Beloved aunt of many.
She was preceded in death by her father, Karl Raida, first husband, Manuel “Tom” Smith, brother In-law, Richard Adamski and niece, Danielle Barzyk.
Ursula loved to cook, listen to music, shop, but most of all she loved to be with family. Family is what Ursula cherished most. She loved being a mom and “Nana”. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. Throughout her life, Ursula demonstrated extraordinary strength, especially the past few years as she fought through health ailments. She fought until her last breath, when God welcomed her home.
It was at Ursula's request to be cremated. Her family & friends will gather for a visitation on Saturday, April 20, 2024 beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin. A Funeral Mass will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 AM.
