Thomas A. Walsh Sr.

Thomas A. Walsh Sr. age 86, of Algonquin, Illinois and formerly of the Dunning neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois passed away on January 20, 2024 at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin Illinois.  He was born to John and Frances (Noblett) Walsh on May 23, 1937, a native of Ballyday, County Wexford, Ireland.

As a young man Tom spent most of his time on the back of a horse show jumping in Ireland winning many trophies and ribbons for McDowell Farms.  He loved a good rousing game of hurling with his friends, and as a Chicagoan followed his favorites, the Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nora (O’Conner) Walsh; his children, Thomas A. Jr. (Debra) Walsh, Philomena (Sam) Abruscato, Michael Walsh and Bernadette (Ken) Jahns; his grandchildren, Michelle, Bryan, Timothy, Eric, Isabel, Meaghan, Sam (Lora) and Tony; his great-grandchildren, Tony and Giovanni. He is also survived by some of his siblings in Ireland and England and was a beloved uncle and friend to many.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. along with a prayer service to begin at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd. (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
