Thomas Gentleman Obituary

Thomas A. Gentleman, age 84, of Algonquin, IL, passed away on February 4, 2023 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Omaha, NE on May 4, 1938 to Robert and Florence (Cerney) Gentleman.

Tom was still working at Coilcraft in Cary, IL at the time of his passing, with a total of 57 years of dedicated service. He was very proud of the work he did successfully expanding Coilcraft all throughout the Asian continent.

He dedicated many years to coaching and serving on the Board at Elgin Classic Little League, coaching youth basketball and soccer at the Salvation Army, and co-founding the Larkin Junior Royals feeder basketball program. Thomas was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves.

His favorite past time was following the stock market, always ready with a stock tip for anyone who asked.

He is survived by his wife, Jan (Johnson) Gentleman; his children, Tom (Angie) Gentleman, Tim (Kelly) Gentleman, Nick (Deannah) Gentleman, and Betsy (Steve) Shower; his grandchildren, Johnny, Henry, Theo, Tommy, and Joey; his sisters, Mary Sue (Ed) Mastro and Kathy (John) Meehan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother Robert Gentleman.

Visitation for Thomas will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 beginning at 4:00 p.m. until time of a 6:00 p.m. Service at Light of Christ Church, 1700 Longmeadow Pkwy., Algonquin, with Pastor Kendall Koenig officiating.

A private family Interment along with Funeral Honors will be held at Dundee Twp. Cemetery - East in East Dundee, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to JourneyCare Hospice, 405 N. Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010 would be appreciated.
