Stephen John Nostro, age 40, of Algonquin, Illinois, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Orlando, Florida, on October 6, 1981, the loving son of John Stephan Nostro and Wendy Suzanne Benson.
Stephen battled Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for 40 years and all that went with this horrible disease. He fought bravely every day to live his best life with humor, sarcasm and bouts of obnoxiousness. He loved hard and proved himself time and time again to be a wonderful son, brother, uncle, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend to many.
Stephen is survived by his mother, Wendy (Francis McKenney); his father, John (Ihla Wolfe); his brother, Andrew Benson (Nicole Zimbelman); his nephew and niece, Oliver and Layne Benson; his stepfather Gregory Biliskov; his grandmother Linda Benson; grandparents Ray and Jan Biliskov and many aunts, uncles and cousins in both Illinois and Florida. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Oliver Benson; grandparents Louis and Phyllis Nostro and aunt Francine Aughenbaugh.
Stephen was a proud 4th Degree member of the St. Margaret Mary Knights of Columbus (Council 11091), and an avid Star Wars junkie, self-proclaimed horror film critic and Cubs enthusiast.
A visitation for Stephen will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with a prayer service to begin at 6:00 PM in the chapel at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
