Stephen A. Zubo

Stephen A. Zubo age 72, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away at his home on November 12, 2023 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1951 to parents, Paul and Doris (Caldwell) Zubo.

Raised in Glenview, Illinois, Steve attended Saint Isaac Jogues elementary school and Notre Dame High School in Niles where he graduated in 1969. An avid reader throughout his life, Steve found comfort in books and writing his own poetry. His literary knowledge was only second to his love of music, for which he played the guitar and heartily listened to Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Tom Waits to name a few. Steve meditated every day throughout his life and loved the outdoors. Professionally, Steve had a 40-year career in IT with the majority as a mainframe capacity planner. Steve was kind, witty, gentle, and truly a unique person. Steve was devoted to his wife, children, and twin sister and was a greatly loved man. 

Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Carol (Gibbons) Zubo; his loving children, Jason Zubo and Kara Zubo; his dear twin sister, Colleen (Dennis) Heenan; his fond nephew, Paul (Jessica) Heenan and his niece, Karen (Brian) Horvath; in-laws Maureen Gibbons, the late Edward Gibbons (Joan), Ruth (James) Kalal and Margaret (the late Daniel) Harrity and many loving cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death by his nephew, John C. Heenan.

Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM along with a eulogy service to begin at 5:00 PM that afternoon all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023 with prayers to begin at 8:45 AM from the funeral home chapel and proceed to St. Mary Catholic Church, 10307 Dundee Rd., Huntley for the Mass of the Resurrection to be Celebrated at 10:00 AM.

Services will conclude at the church. Cremation rites will be held privately.
