Scott A. Miller Obituary

Scott Alan Miller, age 66, of Algonquin, IL, passed away Sunday evening, February 16, 2025 at his residence. He was born June 1, 1958, in LaPorte County, Indiana. He was the beloved son of the late Richard Eugene Miller and Dorothy Lorraine (Knoll) Miller.

Scott, was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him. Scott should be remembered not for the way his life ended, but for the way it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As a young boy, Scott was always on the move enjoying many outdoor activities. He participated in competitive swimming for a short time until he discovered his love for wrestling in high school. In his senior year, Scott placed third in the state wrestling championship representing Rogers High School in Michigan City, Indiana. Scott’s passion for wrestling followed him into adulthood as he became a certified wrestling official for youth through college tournaments. Scott also had a love for music. He played trumpet through his school years and learned to play the guitar. He often serenaded his family around the campfire.

As an adult, Scott was an adventurous free-spirited person who enjoyed long drives on his motorcycle, kayaking and being on the lake fishing in the sun. Scott lived the life he loved by enjoying swimming, skiing, golfing, vacationing, repairing cars, and cooking on the grill and being the handyman at home. Most of all he loved family and was Nicole’s biggest fan at her high school and college tennis tournaments. He also thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie of his tennis friends and competitors. Scott had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and spent his spare-time reading books and researching politics, finance, health, religion and more. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed watching the Cubs (if they were winning), Wimbledon, the Olympics and Caesar the Dog Whisperer.

Scott graduated from Purdue University in 1980 with a civil engineering degree. Upon graduation, he moved to the Chicago area where he practiced his trade in the construction industry as a licensed engineer. Scott was always willing to take on new opportunities and became a business broker partner and was elected President of the Turnbridge Lake Association. He had very strong values and was well liked by many people, mostly due to his positive energy and his willingness to help others.

Scott is survived by his wife, Diane Dotson, daughters, Nicole Miller, Jasmine (Shaun) Lane, Harmony (Joshua) Burlock; grandson, Jesse Alexander Lane, grand-pets, Carter Lane, Bentley Burlock; two sisters, Cathy (Ron) Alban of Downers Grove, IL., Sherry Miller of Forest Park, IL.; brother, Barry (Michelle) Miller of Three Oaks, MI; an aunt, three nieces, four nephews and many cousins. Scott’s family and friends loved him dearly and are deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death. Scott’s legacy will carry on forever reminding us to live a life of meaningful acts of love and service, like Christ modeled for us.

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Christian Tabernacle Church. 100 S. Park St. - (across from Roselle Library) Roselle, Illinois 60172.
