Obituary

Samantha Anne Cashen age 27, of Crystal Lake, Illinois passed away unexpectedly on April 27, 2022. She was born in Oshawa Ontario, Canada on January 4, 1995 to Donna (Doucette) and Daniel Cashen.

She was highly motivated bright young woman. Her constant achievements are a testament to the love she shared with her family. She graduated from Harry D. Jacobs High School and couldn’t stop there. Her ambition and devotion to making everyone feel included carried her through the hard work necessary to accomplish a Bachelor of Social Work from Northern Illinois University. After seven years of hard work Samantha achieved her Master of Social Work from University of Denver in 2022. Her parents Donna (Doucette) and Daniel Cashen will walk in her honor to receive her posthumous degree.

Sam loved her family; she was generous to a fault. She would give away the shirt off her back or her last dollar if she thought someone needed it more than her.  Samantha was beautiful inside and out, the most beautiful person we were blessed to know. She always tried to make every life she encountered better.

Sam was sassy, silly, and a little smart-assy. She was always happy, she glowed. Her smile was contagious.  She was the selfie queen.  She was an angel in life, and she is flying high now. Sam’s favorite saying was “Take these broken wings and learn to fly” She knew what it meant to struggle, and she chose to persevere, to better herself for the sake of everyone around her.

She was a daughter, granddaughter, niece, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and best friend. She was everything balled into one package.

She loved to travel, hike, kayak, and her favorite shows were Grey's Anatomy and Gilmore Girls, she loved Disney movies and The Hunger Games.

She is survived by her loving significant other, Jason Morgan; her step-daughter, Skyler Morgan; her mother, Donna (Brian Blew) Cashen; her father, Daniel Cashen; her brother, Cory (Lisa Pierce) Marsh; her nephew, Jesse James Marsh; her brother, Daniel Jr. (Stefanie Bonilla) Cashen; her brother, Kyle (Madeleine McEvoy) Cashen; her step-brothers, Kristian (Gabrielle) Czaja and Steel Blew, her step-sister Skyler Blew; her maternal grandparents, Charles and Hilda Doucette and her parental grandparents, Harold (the late Margaret) Cashen.

Samantha is also survived by her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. And her memory will continue to motivate us all to love more deeply.
