Ruth Anne Turner (Testin) age 79, passed away at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, Illinois with her loving family at her side. She was the loving daughter of Joseph and Margaret Testin.
Ruth was a voracious reader who had a strong interest in fiction–especially cozy mysteries, wildlife and art history. Ruth shared this love of reading with her daughter, Victoria, which inspired Victoria to become a librarian. She enjoyed discussing and debating the works she read as well as politics and other current events. Ruth also enjoyed springtime, when she could read out on her backyard patio and listen to the birds and watch the rabbits that resided in her yard. Ruth also enjoyed the season as it brought forth another hobby–gardening. She loved planting various flowers and herbs she grew from seed. Springtime also brought forth the re-opening of the local Dairy Queen, and she never said no to a plain vanilla ice cream cone.
Ruth was a strict but nurturing and supportive mother who raised her children to be hardworking, thoughtful and kind. Her advice was often candid but meant with the greatest of intentions. She always had time for long conversations and never turned down a phone call from a loved one. Her conversations were intelligent, thought-provoking, and humorous. At holidays everyone looked forward to the opportunity of sitting and chatting with her, as well as piling on a heaping helping of her family famous “Ruth potatoes.” Ruth was a strong woman and she will be greatly missed.
Ruth is survived by her children, Matthew Lawrence Turner, of Lombard, IL. and Victoria Katherine (Matthew Ensenberger) Turner of Cary, IL.; her step-grandchildren, Harriet and Charles.
Services will be held privately with her family.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Defenders of Wildlife in order to protect her favorite animal, the gray wolf, would be appreciated.
Arrangements entrusted with Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Algonquin, Illionois.
