Ruben Reyes Obituary

Ruben R. Reyes age 90, of Carpentersville, Illinois passed away at home on October 7, 2020. He was born in the Philippines on June 23, 1930 to Juan and Carmen (Rivera) Reyes.

Ruben became the Philippine Chess National Champion from 1960-61 competing in the 1960 Chess Olympiad in Leipzig, Germany. He remained among the Philippine Chess Federation National Masters through 1967 and immigrated to the United States in 1973 to pursue the American dream.

He is survived by his children, Juan Reyes III, Michael (Lolit) Reyes, David Sr. (Gina) Reyes, Jane Paulin, Ann (Bill) Haug, Lorraine (Robert) McLees and Rugen Reyes; his grandchildren, Nicole (Don), Alex, Kevin, Chris, Monica, Lance, Eagan, Melissa, William and  David Jr.; his great-grandchild, Lincoln; his sister, Araceli Mendoza.

Ruben was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Guadalupe B. Reyes.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

Funeral Thursday, October 15, 2020 with prayers to begin at 9:00 AM from the funeral home chapel and proceed to St. Monica Catholic Church, 90 N. John F. Kennedy Dr., Carpentersville for a Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 10:00 AM.

Interment will be held privately.
