Robert A. “Bob” Presta age 80, of Algonquin, Illinois formerly of Darien, Illinois, passed away at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois on November 26, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 7, 1942 to Robert and Rose (Bloch) Presta.
He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War Era, worked for Ryerson Steel for 44 years, member of the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post #1231, and a member of the Elgin Golden K Kiwanis.
Bob would light up any room he walked in with his crazy clothes, beautiful eyes, and his love for laughter. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed traveling with Claudia as much as possible. He loved to decorate the house inside and out for any occasion. He was a collector of crazy suits and shirts along with bird houses. He enjoyed watching baseball (Cubs), bowling, cutting the grass, giving back to the community and family time.
He is survived by his wife, Claudia (Appelhans) Presta; his children, Robert (Shielah) Presta and Debora (Curtis) Deal; his step-children, Eric (Karen) Larson and Kurt (Nicole) Larson; his grandchildren, Lauren, Allison, Maisie, Carly, Emma, Evan, Sam, Benjamin. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra A. Presta; his sister Noreen Koss and a brother-in-law, Jerry Koss.
In lieu of flowers, memorial to the All People’s Interfaith Pantry, 256 E. Chicago St., Elgin, Illionois 60120 would be appreciated.
Visitation for Robert will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 PM that evening all at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
Family & friends will gather on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM in front of the cemetery office of Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 7201 Archer Ave., Justice, for a Graveside Service along with Military Honors.
