Richard J. Egger age 76, of Fox River Grove, Illinois passed away at Northwestern Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois on January 25, 2024 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 31, 1947 the loving son of Charles and Ann (Dovidot) Egger.
He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War era from 1968 to 1970. In addition to being an active solder in the field, he was a helicopter mechanic. He was an entrepreneur from the age of 15 when he started working as an auto mechanic. He continued his entrepreneurship up until the day he passed away as the owner of Live Wire Appliance in Fox River Grove. Rich loved traveling to tropical places with his wife Debbie. His favorite things to do were work in his garden, helping people, working with his hands and playing slots! He adored his wife Debbie, his 5 grandchildren and was an animal lover to the extreme. Rich will be deeply and sorely missed.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Debra A. McGinnis, his loved step-children, Matthew (Lisa) Suffi and Andrea (Leo) Delatorre; his grandchildren, Aubree, Ava, Santino, Sophia and Nicholas; his sibling, Nancy Frendreiss; beloved uncle to many nieces & nephews and friend to many. He was the proud pet owner of “Lucy” his Goffin Cockatoo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Heather (Egger) Haas; loving brothers Charles (Glenda) Eggensammer, Frank (Dee) Egger and brother-in-law Bob Frendreiss.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM along with a vigil prayer service at 7:00 PM that evening all at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday morning, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at Crystal Lake Memorial Park.
