Richard J. “Dick” Slavik age 91, a 63 year resident of Algonquin passed away on October 19, 2023. He was born in Oak Park, Illinois at home on June 5, 1932 the son of Arthur and Alma (Kebschull) Slavik. The youngest of four boys, Dick was a proud U.S. Army Korean War Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient. He was married for 51 years until he became windowed. Dick enjoyed seeing his children and grandchildren on a weekly basis and was always willing to help them whenever there was a need. "A saint in their eyes".
Richard is survived by his loving children, Gail (Tom) Fraser, Gary (Tammy) Slavik and Linda (Dave Fernekes) Peterson; his cherished grandchildren, Bridgette (Asim Saif) Caron, Gary (Crystal Baumann) Caron, Eric (Sarah) Slavik, Michael Slavik, Tonya (Aaron) Sainsbury, Scott (Kimberly) Lucchetti, Lindsay (Gregg) Johann, Lisa (Dan Russell) Peterson and Stephanie Peterson; his proud great-grandchildren, Kari, Breanna, Sarina, Kinza, Adrina, Sydney, Quinn, Adeline, Scarlett, Amelia, Emma, Alex, Rylan, Brynn, Vincent, Mia, including baby Johann; his dear brother, Calvin (Susan) Slavik; also survived by his nine nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith M. Slavik; his niece, Maureen; his brothers, Cyril (Doris) Slavik and Arthur Jr. (Kay) Slavik; his sister in-law Eleanor Slavik and brother in-law Edmund Wright.
A private family visitation will be held at Windridge Memorial Park and Nature Sanctuary in Cary, Illinois.
