Richard Schumer of Lake In The Hills, passed away at his home on December 6, 2025. Born in Evanston Illinois June 4, 1959 to the late George and Darlene Schumer. Beloved husband of Patricia J. Schumer (nee Rempala); loving brother of Judy Schumer and Terry Riffey; Caring uncle to eight nieces, three grand nieces and one grand nephew.
Richard grew up in Evanston Illinois and proudly served six years in the United States Navy. He then went on to working for Siemens for 35 years, followed by GN Hearing.
Richard was a lover of the outdoors, he spent much of his free time fishing, camping and enjoying beautiful scenery. He was a talented handyman who completed many remodeling projects at his house. Richard enjoyed many hobbies, such as rockets and woodworking. He was also good with electronics and putting together computers. He also enjoyed spending his time watching horror movies, Seinfeld and can repeat every line in one of his favorite movies, A Christmas Story. He had a sly sense of humor that came out at the most unexpected times. He had many friends, some of whom he considered his extended family. Richard was a very caring man and would help anyone in need.
Please join us Sunday, December 14, 2025 from 1pm. to 4pm. for a memorial visitation at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., Algonquin/ Lake In The Hills, IL. 60102. Inurnment will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 11:00am at St. Michael The Archangel Cemetery in Palatine. A memorial luncheon to celebrate Richard’s life and legacy will follow after at 12:30pm. at Chandler‘s Chophouse & Banquets 401 N. Roselle Rd., Schaumburg, IL.
