Randy J. Weiss passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 suddenly at the age of 55, at his home in Crystal Lake. Loving husband of Julianne "Julie" (Kent) Weiss, devoted father to Melissa (Jason) Peters, Danielle Weiss, soon-to-be son-in-law Thomas Brennan and proud grandfather of Jack, Henry, Oliver, and Charlie Peters. He was born on July 11, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, the beloved son of the late George E. and Geraldine (O'Donnell) Weiss. Dear brother of the late George H. (Laura) Weiss and Wendy (Frank Calcagno) Ratliff. Affectionate Son-in-law to Julie J. and the late Jack Kent. Treasured Brother-in-law of Janmarie (the late David) Kabat, Joe (Jackie) Kent, Jessica (Francis) Corrigan. Loved nephew of the late Lee Domain. Fond Uncle to Raymond (Barbara) Ratliff, Erin (Michael) Steward, Jillian, Jacey, Jackson Kent, Francis Jr., and Patrick Corrigan. Great Uncle to Gianna, Kaelyn Ratliff, Micheal, Eliza, Billy, and Violet Steward.
He grew up in Chicago. The baby of the family, Randy could often be found on the bus with his mom, Gerry, who did not drive. He became an expert at bus routes at a very young age. As an avid Cubs fan, this would also come in handy for Randy in middle school when decided to skip class to attend a game every now and then. Lucky for Randy he would go on to attend Gordon Tech High School which was a much shorter and more direct trip by bus. He met his future wife, Julianne, who he fondly called Julie when they were both working at the Fish Keg on Howard Street in Chicago. That love would last for over 30 years. Randy and Julie raised two daughters, Melissa and Danielle. They would later move to Bartlett, Illinois. Randy enjoyed coaching Danielle's softball teams. He still maintains some of those friendships.
Randy was a proud member of IBEW Local 134 for more than 3 decades. He was honored to be part of the brotherhood and believed very strongly in working together to fight for a common goal of equal wages, lowering the wage gap, better working conditions, and equality for minority workers. He was an employee of American Electric Construction in Schaumburg for 9-plus years and made countless friends along the way.
