Pasquale “Pat” Ventrello, age 101, a resident of the Clarendale of Algonquin and fromerly of Elmwood Park, passed away on April 14, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1924, the beloved son of Michael and Mary (Biondo) Ventrello.
He was a proud U.S Army Veteran serving during World War II. He landed in North Africa with General Gorge Patton’s 3rd Division, 30th Infantry Regiment Cannon Company. He was part of the assault on Anzio Beachhead on his 19th birthday. He fought his way through Italy, including Sicily, Naples, Foggia, Rome, Monte Cassino, and Arno. He then went to Southern France through Bastogne and the Battle of the Bulge. He fought at the Ardennes Forrest in Belgium and made his way into Germany. For his actions in combat, he received ribbons for the European, African, and Middle Eastern theater. He received a distinguished unit badge, battle stars in silver and bronze, Arrowhead, WWII medal, lapel button, Combat Infantry Badge, and good conduct. He was an avid Cubs fan and loved all sports, he even scored a 300 in bowling.
He is survived by his loving children, Patrick (Carol) Ventrello and Catherine (Lawrence) Gruszeczka; his cherished grandchildren, Jason (Nicci) Gruszeczka and Molly (Andrew) Webb and Rosie Ventrello and Rocky (Matthew) Ventrello; his proud great-grandchildren, Ari, Lucy, Harper, Jack, Zoey and Mila; he was also an uncle to many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Pasquale was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marie C. Ventrello (nee Fecarotta) and his 11 siblings.
Visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until time of a 10:00 a.m. prayer service at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
