Michael R. Boland age 52, of Lake in the Hills passed away on December 14, 2020. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 7, 1968 the son of Richard and Joan (Kopniewski) Boland.
He is survived by his mother, Joan and his sisters, Lori Pepel (Glen), Karyn Vandewalker (Kevin) and Jeanine Goldstein (Greg). Michael was a son, a brother, an uncle and friend. He always liked helping others and always made sure they were happy. By trade he was a Carpenter and Stone Mason, but most of all a creator of things he would make out of pieces of wood. Bird houses, birds and turtles made from wood were just a few of the things he made for his family and friends. Michael enjoyed the game of golf, though he always said he wasn’t very good.
He loved to fish, but would say he only caught one fish the whole summer. Michael also loved watching baseball, of course the Cubs, but most of all watching his nephews play.
Michael is also survived by his only niece, Sydney Pepel, along with six nephews, Logan Pepel, Matthew Vandewalker (Lauren), Zachary Vandewalker, Jordan Goldstein, Lucas Goldstein, Griffin Goldstein, great-niece Aubree, great-nephew Brayden, special aunt Shirley, cousin Caitlyn and her daughter Layla, dear uncle Bill and aunt Gail Boland, aunt Sue and uncle Rich Gross, aunt Ellen and Jim Piersol, many cousins and his dogs, Dolly and Tootsie.
He was preceded in death by his father Richard "Pop" Boland just last year.
