Mark Connell age 67, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois passed away on December 16, 2023. He was born in Bakersfield, California on March 30, 1956 the son of Walter Wilson and Betty Delores (Roberts) Connell.
Mark Connell was an extraordinary man. He brought music, joy, love, and laughter into people's lives wherever he went. A husband, a father, and a fierce lover of the Lord. He spent his life serving Him however he could. He had a passion for music and played guitar, drums, mandolin, percussion and harmonica. He did so joyfully in worship, leading youth bands, and led Worship teams for Sunday church services. Mark had a passion for teaching the Word of God and taught a Bible study for high school boys for many years. He led Small Group Bible Studies for adults and a Men's Group Bible Study. He started the Men’s Ministry at the Bridge Church of Algonquin and was elected as an Elder there. But one of the things Mark loved the most was sharing his testimony with someone on a plane or in an Uber and having an opportunity to pray for them. We are confident he will be there at the gates of heaven to welcome many that he helped get there by sharing his faith in Jesus Christ. Until that day when we see him again, he will be sorely missed.
Mark is survived by his wife, Brenda (Meads) Connell; his children, Christin Connell, Amy (Ryan) Helferich and Joshua (Ingralisa) Connell; his grandchildren, Lincoln Everest Massatt and Ayvah Connell; his sisters, Ann P. Bentley and Rachael Smith; his mother-in-law, Nita Meads.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Smith.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:30 PM at The Bridge Church, 180 Hawthorne Rd., Barrington, Senior Pastor Todd Berge will be officiating.
