Maria Huellen Obituary

Maria Huellen (nee Windhauser), age 87, of Arlington Heights, Illinois peacefully passed away at home on March 1, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born on June 15, 1935 in Treis-Karden, Germany; the daughter of Josef and Elisabeth (nee Seibold) Windhauser.

Maria was born and raised in Treis-Karden, Germany, along the beautiful Mosel River. She, along with her husband, Walter, and son, Juergen, immigrated to the United States in 1958 from Bonn Germany and lived in Chicago and Des Plaines. For the past 50 years, they lived in their beloved home in Arlington Heights where they continued to raise five children.  Maria was more than a fantastic homemaker; she also played a key role in Walter’s business.

Maria was, and continues to be, the heart and soul of the family.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Her greatest joy was caring for her family.  She loved cooking, gardening, dancing, and listening to classical and big band music.  Maria enjoyed traveling with her family to various destinations. Some of her favorites were Sanibel Island Florida, Lake Tahoe California, Acapulco Mexico, and cruising the Caribbean.  However, her most favorite was travelling back to her hometown in Germany to visit with family and many friends.  She was loved by so many.

She is survived by her beloved husband, of 66 years, Walter J. Huellen; her loving children, Juergen (Mary) Huellen, Ingrid (Steve) Hapanovich, Brigitte (Dave) Sreniawski, Walter Jr. (Patti) Huellen and Elke (Neil Treliving) Huellen; her cherished grandchildren, Eileen (Ryan) Pasturczak, Adam Huellen, Nicole Hapanovich, Stephen (fiancé Kelly Rezny) Hapanovich, Michael Hapanovich, Krista Sreniawski, Jason Sreniawski, Megan Sreniawski, Courtney (fiancé Tyler Bostedt) Huellen, Brittany Huellen, Ryan Huellen, Kailyn Huellen, Ashley Goodman and Emily Goodman; her precious great-grandchildren, Claire Pasturczak and Lucas Pasturczak; her sister-in-law, Marianne Windhauser, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her brother Heinz (Marianne) Windhauser, her sister and brother-in-law Hermine and Werner Seimet, and her nephews Karl Heinz Seimet and Heinz Windhauser Jr.

Family & friends will gather on Tuesday morning, March 7, 2023 for a visitation to begin at 11:00 AM directly at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 111 S. Hubbard St., Algonquin, followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 12:00 Noon. (kindly omit from sending flowers to the church).
