Lorraine K. Walker

Lorraine Kelley Walker, age 76, of Lakewood Illinois, passed away peacefully on Aug 6, 2023 at home after a brief battle with bile duct cancer.  She was born on June 19, 1947 in Downey, CA to Wilfred Raymond Kelley and Helen Rose Breed.

Lorraine was raised in Bellflower, CA with her siblings Carol and Gary. They enjoyed family vacations of camping and fishing in the CA mountains. Fun fact – she would occasionally hang out with Karen Carpenter (of the Carpenters’ Singing Group) in the band room at Downey HS. After Lorraine graduated from high school in 1965, she worked at McDonald Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, CA. On Oct 4, 1969 she married David Michael Walker. They had two daughters, Michele Lorraine and Jenniferann Ashlyn. Lorraine was baptized on June 17, 1973 at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bellflower CA. They raised their daughters in Norwalk & Irvine CA and in Jubail Saudi Arabia. Lorraine got to travel the world. Some of her favorite adventures were exploring London, Germany and New Zealand and seeing the orchid gardens in Singapore.

Lorraine enjoyed making videos of family photos, learning about her family tree, setting the table with dinning China for holiday meals and reading female biographies. She took pride in making customized greeting cards and calendars for family & friends.

Left to mourn her loss are her husband of 53 years David, daughters Michele (Alison) of WI and Ashlyn (Brian) of IN, stepdaughter Sherrie (Mike) of CA and step grandsons Matthew and Colin of CA. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Robert) of CA, cousins Jackie and Yvette of CA, nieces & nephews, and childhood best friend Jackie.

Lorraine was predeceased by her parents and brother Gary.

A memorial gathering will be held for family & friends on Saturday, September 16, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 PM at Olde Towne Hall, 54 Brink St., Crystal Lake.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis Tennessee.
