Linda E. Burke age 62, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois passed away suddenly from complications due to acute myeloid leukemia at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois August 9, 2023. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 23, 1961 to Dennis and Marla (nee Tabel) Burke.
Linda graduated from Northern Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. After graduating, she worked in different fields of nursing: labor and delivery, home health and nursing management, to name a few. Linda left nursing in 2012, after battling breast cancer. She fought that battle bravely and conquered it.
Linda had numerous hobbies. She loved to travel, read, dance, could bake better than Food Network chefs, and was a masterful quilter. We will remember so many milestones thanks to her beautiful seasonal and commemorative quilts, which she gifted generously. Linda was a friend to anyone who came into contact with her and had an infectious smile and laugh. But above all else, what she loved most was spending time with her family, and taking care of her grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely.
Linda is survived by her wife, Dawn Burke; her children, Brett (Andrew McKernan) Stickrod, Kelly (Meredith) Phillips and Matthew (Kaitlyn) Stickrod; her grandchildren, Rowan, Elara, Gemma, Benjamin and Brennan; her parents, Dennis and Marla Burke; her brother, Gary ( Lynn) Burke; her niece, Valerie Burke and her nephew, Daniel Burke.
She was preceded in death by her aunt, Claire (Tabel) Harding and her grandparents.
A visitation for Linda will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM along with Words of Remembrances to be shared at 5:00 PM that afternoon all at WILLOW FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
