Joyce L. Schroeder

Joyce L. Schroeder (Jones) age 80, of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and formerly of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin passed away on May 18, 2023, at Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Illinois. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 19, 1942, the daughter of Edward “Bud” and Lorraine (Kropp) Jones.

Joyce was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was kind, loving, and funny. Joyce was well-liked by everyone she met. The nurses she had this past year, could not say enough nice things about her. She loved to visit with family and friends over dinner and a movie. Joyce moved to Lake Geneva, WI when she retired because she loved living near the water.  She really enjoyed swimming and her grandchildren loved to go to Nana’s and swim in her pool. She had a passion for women’s and children’s causes. Before retiring, Joyce served as a counselor for Lutheran Social Services in Elgin, Illinois.

She is survived by her children, Lori (Efrain) Gonzalez, Jeff (Suzann) Schroeder and Matt Schroeder; her grandchildren, Mark, Jake, Brooklyn, Hannah, Tommy and Tyler; her brother, Don (Shirley) Jones.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward “Buddy” Jones and Ronald Jones.

A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with Words of Remembrances to be shared that evening at 7:00 PM all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

A private family graveside service will be held at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joyce's name to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital for Nursing Excellence, Recognition, and Research fund.
