John Benoit Obituary

John A. Benoit age, 58 of Union, Illinois passed away at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois on March 22, 2020 with his loving family at his side.

He was born in Lansing Michigan on May 17, 1961, the first child of Richard and Sally (Anguilm) Benoit.

John spent his childhood growing up in Arlington Heights, IL. His first job after graduating was as an EMT / Firefighter in Southern Illinois, Hobbs, New Mexico and Paducah, Kentucky.  There in Paducah was where he met his wife, Kris. After their marriage in 1987, they moved to Elgin, Illinois and John began his second career with The Garland Roofing Company.  He remained with Garland for the next 20 years.

John, along with his wife, Kris were well know breeders of champion Dalmatians under the Dakota prefix.

In 2008, John made the decision to pursue a professional career inspired by his hobby of handling purebred show dogs.  It was here he truly shined. John became a member of the Dog Handlers Guild, and Professional Handler Association, traveling the country.  He took great joy in mentoring others in the sport.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kristine Benoit, his mother, Sally Benoit; his siblings, Mary Jo (Clifton) Duvall, Cliff Benoit and David (Michelle) Benoit; his nieces and nephews,  Alicia (Christopher) Schultz, Jessica and Clifton Duvall; Luc, Emma and Ben Benoit; and Molly (Sean) Cook, Matthew, Ryan and Jack Benoit.

John was preceded in death by his father, Richard Benoit in 2006.

A Celebration of Life Gathering is being planned for June and will be announced.
