Joan C. Hansen

Joan C. Hansen (Hofer) age 90, of Algonquin, Illinois and formerly of Mt. Prospect, Illinois passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023 with her loving family by her side. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on March 18, 1933 the daughter of Harry and Carolyn (Winchell) Hofer. 

Joan was a proofreader for GTE in Des Plaines, Illinois with 23 years of service.  She graduated from Notre Dame High School class of 1951.  She enjoyed making wonderful meals for her family and was an excellent baker.  Throughout her life she was an avid reader and in her later years she kept the Algonquin Library on its toes (thank God for the drive-up window). 

She is survived by her children, Mary Beth (George) Hamilton, Robert Hansen, Mark Hansen and Carol (Bryan) Francis; her grandchildren, Ben McIntyre, Elizabeth Holland, Andrew McIntyre, Shannon Francis, Heather Francis, Connor Francis and Bailey Francis; her great-grandchildren, Tommy and Mary Rose Holland, Austin, Tyler McIntyre and Anna Lynn McIntyre; her siblings, Pat Griffin, Charlene (David) Waden and Charles (Terri) Hofer; also survived by nieces & nephews. 

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Hansen and her brother-in-law, Gerald Griffin. 

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
