Janet Mellor

Janet Mellor (Slade) age 80, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away on March 2, 2025.  She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 6, 1944.  She was the middle of 3 daughters to Herbert and Viola (Broms) Slade.

Janet had a tremendous love for animals.  She enjoyed music, decorating, clothing fashion/style/shopping, politics, charities including Art Helps Heal and gun control, and spending time with family and friends.  Janet attended Elmhurst College.  She was an office manager and administrative assistant at several companies.  She owned and managed a home improvement family business started by her father.

Janet is survived by her son, Robert (Amy) Cady; her sister, Shirley (Scott) Forpe; her 2 nieces, Laurie Luster and Dawn Luster and many cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Mellor and her sister, Barbara Luster.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. along with a Time of Sharing to begin at 2:00 p.m. that afternoon all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
