James "Jimmy" Forbes

James “Jimmy “ Forbes age 73, of Crystal Lake, Illinois passed away on August 27, 2024. He was born in Elgin, Illinois on October 23, 1950 the son of Thomas and Vera Forbes.

Jim started Port Barrington Marina on the Fox River in 1976. He sold skidoo snowmobiles, two kinds of boats and trailers and operated a full service marina with storage. His established business is currently in its 48th year. He also loved drag racing and had a few cars he would race. He enjoyed many snowmobile trips, owned a house in Ft. Myers, Florida, loved bass and ocean fishing. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Jim had lived a wonderful life.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda Forbes, his son, James Thomas “JT” Forbes and his daughter, Jody (Wayne) Chittick; his grandchildren, Carson, Caden and Vera; his brother, Bruce Bossow; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters, Vera, Julie and Betty; his sister-in-law, Patricia Bossow and his brother-in-law, Dennis Golladay.

It was at Jimmy's request that he be cremated. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM along with a prayer service that afternoon at 4:00 PM all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
