Hans Ahrens age 94, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away at Northwestern Medicine-Huntley Hospital on March 13, 2024 in Huntley, Illinois. He was born in Wanne-Eickel, Germany on February 9, 1930 the son of Johann and Maria (Ott) Ahrens.
He enjoyed being independent at his age. Mowing his lawn, swimming in his pool, driving to stores, keeping up with long distance relatives/friends through Skype and Facebook, listening to music on Alexa, and reading a good book. He loved history and could tell you details from hundreds of years ago.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Howard) Hawn of Sebastian, FL; his grandchildren, Justin Wellington and Aaron (Melissa) Butcher; his great-grandchildren, Jake Butcher and Charlotte Butcher; his brother, Hermann Ahrens; his neighbors and friends who were always there for support and to share a glass of wine and a few stories.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Ahrens and his brother, Heinz Ahrens.
Cremation rites were held privately.
