George Schumer Obituary

George E. Schumer age 86, of Lake in the Hills and formerly of Round Lake Beach, IL passed away in Huntley on November 27, 2020. ​He was born in Evanston, Illinois at St. Francis Hospital on August 26, 1934 to Michael and Mary (Heppner) Schumer.

George was a proud United States Army Veteran, a loving, kind and caring man who was there to lend a helping hand. He lived life with a sense of humor and always put a smile on your face.

He will be dearly missed by his loving children, Richard (Patricia) Schumer, Judith Schumer, Therese Riffey and Ashlie Alvarado; his grandchildren, Lilyanna and Scarlet, Margaret and Brenna; his brother, Edward (Sarah) Schumer, including many nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald (Patricia) Schumer, Raymond Schumer and James Schumer.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one mile east of Randall Rd.), Algonquin/Lake in the Hills. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the funeral home chapel. (Social distancing and face coverings will be our shared practice during the visitation at the funeral home.)

Interment with Military Funeral Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army will take place at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Cemetery, Palatine, IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association or to The Catholic Charities of Chicago.
