Obituary

 

George B. Craig age 84, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois for 36 years, passed away in Huntley, Illinois on December 7, 2021. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 30, 1937 to Clarence and Dorothy Craig.

He was a proud veteran serving in the United States Army and a member of the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231.

George is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Donna Ann (Smith) Craig whom he married on April 16, 1960; his loving children, Sheryl (Jerome) Eckleberry, Darrel (Debbi) Craig and Jeff (Debbie) Craig; his cherished grandchildren, Whitney (MSgt. Nick USAF) Winters, Christine (Bobby) Grise, Cassandra Craig (Fiancée Ryan Sanders), Ryan Craig, Austin Craig, (Clarie Carr), Tyler Craig (Fiancée Brittany McCue), Sydney Varshawsky, Ryan Varshawsky and Jackson Varshawsky; his proud great-grandchildren, Vivian, Scarlett, Ethan, Claire, and Cohen; his brother, Bill (Judy) Craig of Green Valley, AZ.

Per George’s request he will be cremated privately.  A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM along with Military Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army to begin at 11:30 AM, with eulogies to follow all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.), Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

Family & friends will continue on Celebrating George's Life immediately after, for a memorial luncheon (food and beverages), beginning at 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM directly at the Lake in the Hills American Legion, 1101 W. Algonquin Rd., (at Pyott Rd.), Lake in the Hills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial to The Fisher House Foundation or to the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231 would be appreciated.
