George Lee Anderson age 87, of Harvard, Illinois and formerly of Chicago, Illinois passed away on August 12, 2020.
He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, 2nd Armored Division Company "C" 67th Tank Battalion, “Hell on Wheels,” serving during the Hungarian Revolution from 1957 to 1959.
George was known for helping everyone who needed it, and sometimes that meant snow blowing an entire Chicago street so his neighbors could park. He was a master winemaker, and experimented with making other types of adult drinks.
He was born in Catawba, Wisconsin on August 8, 1933 to Leslie and Ruth (Cline) Anderson.
George was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and dear friend of many.
He is survived by his daughters, Lori Anderson, Leanne Anderson and Fran (Michael) Lyons; his grandchildren, Nicholas and Amelia; his siblings, Jack (Nancy) Anderson and Wally (the late Lorraine) Anderson.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary H. (Hansen); his siblings Jerry, Val, Dorothy and Jeanne; and his longtime canine buddy Spike.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 6:00 PM funeral service all at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills. (please follow Director's guidance, all visitors must wear a face covering at all times within the funeral home.)
Interment with Military Honors under the auspices of the U.S. Army will be held on Monday, August 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Cemetery, 700 N. River Rd., in Des Plaines.
