Francis G. “Frank” Cerwin age 93, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away on June 1, 2023 He was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 8, 1929 to Anthony and Emily (Kreisinger) Czerwinski, He married the love of his life, Marie Delores Farino on July 11, 1953 at St. Mary of Celle Catholic Church in Berwyn, Illinois
He was a United States Air Force Veteran proudly serving during the Korean War in the Strategic Air Command (SAC) 5th SRW (Strategic Reconnaissance Wing) as a B36 “Peacemaker” crew member. He was a devout Catholic serving in volunteer roles at St. Phillip the Apostle Church in Addison and as a member of the Knights of Columbus Damen Hildebrand Council #650, and 4th degree Sir Knight in the Dooley Assembly. Frank was a strong supporter of Scouting having formed a Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop during the 1960s and serving as the Cubmaster and Scoutmaster. He was also a HAM radio operator for 7 decades. Frank had an extensive career in real estate as a broker and appraiser that included owning multiple offices and working in nationwide employee relocation.
Frank is survived by his loving children, Frank (Valerie) Cerwin, Donna (P. Kevin) Wilson, and Judith (Lawrence) McNally; his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Taylor, Bradley (Brittany) Cerwin, Paul (Ezgi) Wilson, Katie (Trevor) Wilson, Kailey McNally and Kyle McNally; his adored great-grandchildren, Evan and Ethan Taylor, Ainsley and Reid Cerwin and Chloe Wilson; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Delores Cerwin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one mile west of Rt. 31.) Algonquin.
Family & friends will gather on Saturday, June 10, 2023 directly at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 845 W. Main St., West Dundee for Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 10:30 AM.
Interment with Military Honors will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens in West Dundee.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee or to the Wounded Warrior Project.
