Emma S. Velasco age 88, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away on March 18, 2025 with her loving family at her side. She was born in Providence of Tungurahua, Ecuador, South America on September 26, 1936 the beloved daughter of Cesar Daniel and Maria Abigail (Merino) Salazar.
In her earlier career, Emma worked for the Ecuadorian government in accounting. During this time, she assisted in accounting and supported lawyers collaborating with the government. It was during this period that she met Agustin, our father.
After moving to the United States, she initially worked as an assembler for the General Telephone and Electronics Corporation (GTE). She later transitioned to Siemens USA, where she continued her work in the electronics and digital sectors. Additionally, Emma contributed to numerous global projects throughout her career at Siemens, until she retired.
Our mother, Emma, was a bright shining star who brought happiness to everyone she met. She shared her kindness, her wise outlook on life, and her ability to see the good in every situation. Her wisdom guided us through challenges, and her gentle reminders helped us embrace our true selves. She taught us the importance of empathy and encouraged us to pursue our dreams with passion and determination.
In her presence, we learned that love and understanding could conquer any obstacle, and her lessons remain etched in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Doris (Kurt) Velasco-Gronseth and Alexzandra (Troy) Velasco-Anderson; her cherished grandchildren, Brian (Dana) Gronseth, Jennifer (Dylan) Chirchirillo, William Anderson and Abigail Anderson; her proud great-grandson, Jason.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Agustin G. Velasco; her brothers, Julio Salazar and Luis Salazar.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with a Time for Sharing to begin at 7:00 PM that evening all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025 with prayers to begin promptly at 9:00 AM from the funeral home chapel and proceed to St. Monica Catholic Church in Carpentersville for a Funeral Mass to be Celebrated at 10:00 AM.
Cremation rites will be accorded privately.
