Ellen J. Riedel

Ellen J. Riedel (Rehberger) age 83, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away on April 9, 2024. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 15, 1941 the daughter of Richard and Pearl (Klick) Rehberger.

Ellen was a school teacher in district 300 for many years before retirement. She loved all of her students and stayed in contact with many of them. Ellen was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Algonquin. She enjoyed coloring in her free time. Before her traveling became restricted, she enjoyed traveling around the United States. Ellen loved baking cookies for the Christmas season. Her love of wolves and plants were on full display at her house.

Ellen is survived by her children, Richard (Joan) Riedel, Joanne (Steven) Mattes, Robert (Tracy) Riedel and Ronald (fiancée Lisa Conradt); her grandchildren, Joshua (Katie) Riedel, Allison (Alec) Hoff, Jacob Riedel, Jacque Mattes, Katie Mattes, Patrick Riedel, Maximilian Riedel, Cooper Riedel and Brad Riedel; her great-grandson, Jaxson; her brother, Richard (Jeanette) Rehberger; her partner of 12 years, Jerry Drudge.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Riedel.

Visitation for Ellen will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

Family & friends will gather on Saturday, April 13, 2024 directly at St. John's Lutheran Church, 320 Jefferson St., Algonquin, for an early morning Funeral Service to begin at 8:30 AM.

Interment will follow for a 10:00 AM graveside service at Windridge Memorial Park in Cary, Illinois.
