Edward E. Urias II, age 50, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois passed away at his home on August 2, 2024. He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland on December 21, 1973 and raised by his loving parents, Edward and Diane (Knoth) Urias.
Ed was a generous and Loyal person who had an unabashed spirit for life. Ed was going to say it like it was and probably make you laugh shamelessly. He spoke of his family and friends often.
Ed took pride in being from Scotland and always felt an innate connection to the land, the sea and the people he left behind. IS BREA’ LIOM TU’
Equally true, Ed was forever grateful for the family that took him in here in the States. He told countless stories, over and over of the fun he had with his Dad, his uncle Kenny and Eddy and their family and friends. Camping, hunting, fishing and rabble rousing mayhem with him and his brother Paul.
Ed was so thankful that he grew up on a lake. The water always gave him peace and hope. This is where his love of hockey was born. Hockey became rooted in his being like a vital sign. Ed always downplayed his hocky skills in light of his heroes. But truly, to see him skate was magical.
Ed acquired many skills, starting work before the age of 15. But the skill that became a passion of his life was being a chef. Ed made so many people happy with his delicious food. Ed’s personal mantra was “Cooking is an art, it’s music. It’s a dance. Good food is culture, passion, it’s like S..” “Shhhh, my sweet” “Don’t shush me baby”.
Ed was so proud of his son Dylan, for his strength of character, courage and kindness. He loved to brag about Dylan’s spellbinding talent for skateboarding and playing guitar.
But the most fun, he would say was, “Making dinner with my wife and dancing in the kitchen”
“Oh darling, can I see the world through your eyes ?”
Ed is survived by his wife, Karla Urias; his son, Dylan McCartin; his mother, Diane Urias; his brother Paul Urias.
He was preceded in death by his dear father, Edward E. Urias; his beloved uncle, Kenny Mason
And too many other family and friends to lose in such a short life. We love you all !
