Dolores M. Hoeckelberg (née Fell), age 94, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, in Elgin, Illinois. Born in Chicago, Illinois, Dolores lived a long and spirited life filled with love, resilience, and cherished moments.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert J. Hoeckelberg Sr., and their son, Robert J. Hoeckelberg Jr. Dolores is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Carol Lussky (James) and Christine Sieff; her grand children, David Lussky, Julie Tully and Corinne Sieff, her great-grand children, Megan Tully and Jaymie Jascot, and her great-great-grand children, Avery, Brayden and Sophia.
Dolores had a vibrant personality that left an impression on all who knew her. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life - reading a book a day (mostly mysteries), playing bingo with friends, crocheting with care and creativity (making hundreds of hats that were donated to shelters), and trying her luck at the “Buffalo” slot machines. Her feisty spirit and sharp mind were hallmarks of her character throughout her life. Among the personal treasures she left behind was a heartfelt note to her family—a final message filled with love and comfort: “Let me go — let my spirit be free. I will be near, look for me. A bird sitting on a branch, watching you in your yard; a bee hovering over you in the yard; a deer or a fox peering out of the woods. I will be near you and watching over you and loving you as I always have. I love you all. Mom”. Her words are a lasting reminder of the deep bond she shared with those closest to her — a connection that endures beyond time. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
