Dolores J. “Dodie “ Lewis (Tucker), 93 years old, of Clarendale of Algonquin (formerly of Huntley, and Buffalo Grove, Illinois) passed away on August 13, 2024, which would have been her 74th wedding anniversary. She was born in Paris, Illinois on March 11, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Mabel Tucker  (Potts).

Dodie was an avid quilter, sewer, crafter, and reader. She was a part of Sew and Sews in Huntley and participated in making quilts of valor. She participated in book clubs everywhere she lived. Her love of reading infected all the generations of her family. Before retiring Dodie worked as a nurse’s assistant at Cooper Junior High School (District 21) in Buffalo Grove. Students and staff alike remember the comfort and support she provided on a regular basis. She accomplished all of the above while raising a family of eight children.

Dodie is survived by her loving children Keith (Karen) Lewis, Kent (Cindy) Lewis, Kevin (Mary Ellen) Lewis, Kirt (Debbie) Lewis, Kelly Lewis, Kara (Rodger) McClintock, and Kris (John) Anfuso; her grandchildren Erin Mitchell, Megan Lewis, Ryan Lewis, Danielle “Dani” (Eric) Philipps, Kirt Lewis Jr., Jacob (Tabitha) Lewis, Kent Justus, Jordan (Kerri) McClintock, and Kendra McClintock; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Madeline, Finley, Lane, Kein, Zyan, Jude, Theo, Cooper, Nolan, and Quinn.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rexford Lewis, her daughter, Kendra Lewis, and her granddaughter Terrilynn Frazier.

Dodie lived a long and happy life, always opening her home and her traditions to family and friends. The stories of her travels were always fun to share. Dodie’s loving ways will remain as fond memories in those who were blessed to know her.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along with a Time of Sharing at begin at 7:00 p.m. that evening all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
