Dennis Lederer Obituary

On Thursday March 16th, 2023, Dennis Stanley Lederer, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at age 71, surrounded with family by his side.

Dennis was born on January 26th, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Simpson College in Iowa where he played football and was active with the ATO fraternity. He then Married Judi (Kelsey) on June 26th 1982. They happily raised two sons (Blake and Tyler) in Algonquin, Illinois. He was a business partner and colleague, and together they created an empire of pawn shops called Hometown Jewelry and Loan. He sold the business and retired in 2015, where he devoted his time to his wife Judi, family and friends. His later years reflected unparalleled bravery in battling his cancer.

Dennis’s passions included being a father, business partner, as well was being the life of the party and encouraging everyone he met to live life to the very fullest through food, music, and silliness. An avid Marvel comics fan, he was the father everyone wished they had. He was also ecstatic to be labeled as the “fun grandparent”.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife Judi, his father, Walter Lederer, and his mother, Geraldine Milewski. He is survived by his children, Blake (Kerry) and Tyler (Mandy), his brother, Wally (Joni) Lederer, his sister, Andrea (Lance) Madison, two grandchildren, Landon and Ava, as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
