DeVere "Bud" Ihrke Obituary

DeVere S. “Bud” Ihrke, age 89, of Cary, passed away on July 17, 2022 at Northwestern-Medicine Huntley Hospital. He was born on January 19, 1933 in East Dundee, Illinois to Elvin and Velma (Hawthorn) Ihrke.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Korean War and a member and trustee of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Algonquin.  Bud was a carpenter most of his life but he did spend a couple years managing the Honda shop in Woodstock, Illinois. He loved horses and his dogs.  Bud rode motorcycles with his kids and his brother and sister, including trips out west and through the Smokey Mountains. He sponsored both sons in Dwarf Car racing.  Bud enjoyed many vacations with his family, especially to Linnville, Indiana.

Surviving Bud are his daughter, Paula (Daniel) Camann; his two sons, Scott (Karen) Ihrke and Greg Ihrke (Danielle Taylor); his grandchildren, Megan, Amanda, Darren, Shelley and Cameron; his great-grandchildren, Jackson, Grace, MaKayla, Easton and Novalee.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Sue Ihrke (Blaksley); his siblings, Elaine Horning, Jean Ellison, Clayton and Leslie.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM along with a service to begin at 7:30 PM that evening.  All will be held at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin, Rd., (one mile west of Rt. 31) Algonquin.

A private internment will take place at a later date at Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your favorite charity.
