David Brevik Carlsen Obituary

David Brevik Carlsen, age 69, of Algonquin, Illinois, passed away suddenly on January 30, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Tamara Ann; loving sons Erik (Alexandra) and Jeffrey (Alyssa); cherished grandchildren Brooke Marie and twins who will be born this March; adoring sister Rondi; loving brother-in-law Gary Harrigian (Kriss); nephew Keith and niece Nikki; devoted dogs Rasta and Sugar; and many dear friends.

David was born in Chicago to Herbert Brevik and Marie Laura (Johnson) Carlsen and raised in Logan Square, Des Plaines, and Northbrook. He and his family lived in Buffalo Grove before moving to Algonquin. He is a graduate of Glenbrook North High School, Carroll College, and earned his Master ofScience in Industrial Management/Safety/Ergonomics from Northern Illinois University. He worked inthe risk management and loss control industry for over 28 years.

The greatest joys in David’s life were being surrounded by his family, friends, and dogs and the hilarity that ensued; providing constant moral and financial support of his sons’ vast participation in sports; making new friends wherever he went; collecting muscle cars; and his model train railroading hobby.

His kindness and brilliantly quick wit will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Services and interment will be private.
