Michael “Dale” Smith age 71, of Algonquin, Illinois formerly of Hanover Park, Illinois, passed away on October 1, 2022 at Northwestern-Medicine Huntley Hospital in Huntley, Illinois.
He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on July 10, 1951 to Amos and Dorothy (Dill) Smith.
Dale was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran.
Dale coached the Chicago Blitz and Kane County Eagles from 2002 – 2006. In 2003 he won a national championship as part of the coaching staff with the Kane County Eagles in the NAFL. He enjoyed sports, movies and books. When he was younger he liked to paint and put things together. He was an avid bowler and loved fast cars. His favorite car was his 1985 Monte Carlo SS with T-Tops.
Dale is survived by his son, Tim (Gretchen) Smith and his daughter, Jennifer Gerber (fiancé Garrett Meyer); his grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Jason Gerber, Marissa Gerber and Nathan Gerber; his great-grandchildren, Lenynn and Lydia; his mother, Dorothy Smith; his brothers, Terry (Suzie) Smith and Glen (Darla) Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Amos Smith; his wife, Lynn E. (Beeskow) Smith and his granddaughter, Madison Noel Gerber.
A "Celebration of Life" gathering for Dale will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, along with Military Honors at 7:00 PM that evening all at Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd., (one half mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake in the Hills.
