Christopher T. Dranka Obituary

Christopher T. Dranka, age 55, of Lake in the Hills, Illinois, passed away on October 8, 2025, just days before his 56th birthday. Born in Chicago on October 17, 1969, Chris was the beloved son of Edward Dranka and the late Maria (Kedziora) Mitropoulos.

Chris was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend whose unwavering love and loyalty defined his life. A man who always put his family first, he worked tirelessly to provide for those he cared about and touched the lives of many with his generosity, strength, and humor.

Known for his magnetic personality and razor-sharp wit, Chris had a unique ability to light up any room. His laughter was infectious, his stories unforgettable, and his presence comforting. He was charismatic, original, and fiercely independent—a true one-of-a-kind spirit who lived life on his own terms.

Chris was a fighter in every sense. He faced life’s challenges, including a courageous battle with cancer, with relentless determination and grit. His strength inspired everyone around him, and even in the face of adversity, he never stopped showing up with courage and heart.

A proud Chicagoan, Chris was an avid fan of the city’s sports teams—especially the Bears. He found joy in staying active, whether through jiu-jitsu, pickleball, or long walks. He took immense pride in coaching his sons in wrestling, passing on life lessons about discipline, resilience, and character.

Chris also had a lifelong passion for cars—especially the Nissan GTR—and a deep appreciation for music, writing, and simple pleasures like a strong cup of coffee or time spent in good company. He loved traveling to Mexico and was happiest surrounded by the people he loved.

Chris is survived by his beloved sons, Christopher and Matthew Dranka and their mother, Dawn Dranka; his father, Edward Dranka; his step-mother, Stella Dranka; his brother, Edward Dranka; his step-brother, Andre Plonski and his step-sister, Donna Plonski Herrington. He is also lovingly remembered by his nephew, Brandon Dranka; his niece, Jessica Campobasso; his uncles, Jan Kedziora and Jeannie; his aunt, Henryka; and his cousins, Betty, Diane, Tommy, Brian and Ursula Pawlowski. He was preceded in death by his mother, Maria Mitropoulos and his brother, Mark Dranka.

Chris will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, his humor, his strength, and his boundless love. He leaves behind a legacy of passion, perseverance, and heart.
