Catherine A. Duszka Obituary

Catherine Ann Duszka, affectionately known as Cathy, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2025, at the age of 74 in Elgin, Illinois. She was born on February 3, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. Cathy's warm spirit and vibrant personality were evident from an early age.

Cathy was the cherished daughter of the late Raymond Zielinski and Marilyn Webster-Zielinski. She was a beloved sister to Terrilee Sterken (late Robert Sterken), Ronald Zielinski (Pamela Zielinski), Raymond Zielinski Junior (Kathy Zielinski). Cathy's legacy of love continues through her devoted husband, Timothy Duszka, her son, Joe Duszka (Erica Duszka), her daughter, Ginger Gallagher (PJ Gallagher), and her treasured granddaughters, Caylee and Kelsey Gallagher.

Cathy & Tim’s love story began over 53 years ago, when they worked at Sears together. It truly was love at first sight. On their first date they rode off into the sunset to the Centennial State of Colorado. Ever since that day they have been inseparable.

Cathy's journey through life was marked by her enduring spirit and the joy she found in simple pleasures. She attended Kennedy High School, where she performed in the marching band as a baton twirler, and cultivated memories on the yearbook committee. Later, Cathy's professional life included positions at Sears, First Card, and Allstate.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Cathy was an avid fan of the Beatles and Ed Sheeran, whose music brought her immense joy and often served as the soundtrack to family gatherings. Her creativity shone through her love for coloring and crocheting, crafts that not only showcased her artistic talents but also provided countless handmade treasures for her loved ones. Cathy's sense of humor was infectious, and she had an uncanny ability to light up a room and make people laugh with her quick wit and funny anecdotes.

Cathy's kitchen was the heart of her home, a place where aromas of her cooking brought comfort and where family gatherings were made memorable with her delicious recipes. Her culinary skills were a vehicle for her love, as she believed in the power of a shared meal to bring people together.

Even as Cathy faced the challenges of health complications from Parkinson's Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis, her resilience and loving nature never waned. She continued to fill her days with laughter, creativity, and love, and her legacy of warmth and kindness will forever be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know her.

In her passing, Cathy leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and humor. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her, and the impact of her presence will continue to be felt long after her departure. Her family will hold dear the memories of a life well-lived, a life that was as colorful and vibrant as the art she created. Cathy's story is one of love, resilience, and the indelible mark she left on the hearts of everyone she touched. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Cremation rites were held privately.

A "Celebration of Life" gathering for Cathy is being planned and will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The National Multiple Sclerosis Society or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements entrusted with Willow Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Algonquin, Illinois.
