Byron Moenter Obituary

Byron L. Moenter age 85, of Algonquin passed away on October 24, 2020. Byron was the loving father with his first wife Marjorie of Suzanne Moenter, Cynthia Reed and David Moenter, proud grandfather of Mason and Peyton Moenter, and elder brother to Dick Moenter and Mark Wieging. He was predeceased by his second wife, Helen Badovinac.

Byron was born to Margaret Mary Neidhamer and Paul J Moenter in Lima, OH on 16 February 1935, and grew up in and around Ft. Jennings, OH. He served in Naval Intelligence during the Korean Police Action, with postings near Washington, DC and in Istanbul, Turkey. He played point guard on the Naval Basketball team in Istanbul. He attended DePaul University on the GI Bill. He later started a successful business as an independent sales representative. Byron was an avid golfer, and ever hopeful Bears fan, although his true loyalties lay with the Cleveland Indians and Browns, Ohio State for football and DePaul for basketball.

A private Funeral Liturgy will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Huntley.

In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Byron’s memory to the St Mary’s St Vincent DePaul Society, 10307 Dundee Rd, Huntley, IL 60142.
