Anita "Louise" Knowles

Anita “Louise” Knowles (nee LeMaster), age 86, of Algonquin, Illinois, passed peacefully on March 14, 2023.  Born in Anna, Illinois on May 13, 1936 to Lloyd and Gladys LeMaster, she came up to Chicago and met Willard “Bill” Knowles.  Always making her laugh, they married on February 9, 1957 and had seven children, until his passing in 1998.  After some time, she and Bill moved to Wood Dale, Illinois until settling in Algonquin, where she joined the Algonquin Women’s Club, worked at the Algonquin Library, and raised her children. She later was a waitress at Villa Bleu in Fox River Grove.

She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved gardening, making blackberry jelly, baking, or painting a fresh coat of paint in her home, always antique white.

Louise is survived by her loving siblings, Donald (Norma) LeMaster and Loretta Milton, and her children, Patrick Knowles, Jennifer (Allen) Pellegrino, Beth (Mike) Doyle, Christopher Knowles, Anne (Jim) Forbes, and Katherine Knowles, as well as her grandchildren, Zachary Knowles, Hannah (Cooper) Smith, Kala Hopp, Trinity Pellegrino, Madeline Pellegrino, Benjamin Doyle, Emma Doyle, Danielle Knowles, Jacob Knowles, Rachael (Tyler) Maule, Lauren Knowles, and Abigail Knowles. She is also survived by her sweet great grandchildren, Austin Maule, Julian Straight, Derek Hopp, Ramsey Hopp, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her son Timothy, and her sweet brother Joe.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at Willow Funeral Home, 1415 W. Algonquin Rd, (one mile west of Rt. 31) Algonquin/ Lake in the Hills. 

A private family graveside service will be held the following morning at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst.
