Mary Jackowski Obituary

Mary B. Jackowski (Whitfield) age 76, of Algonquin, IL passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on February 28, 2019. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 5, 1942 to Stuart and Susan Whitfield and lovingly raised by her stepfather, Charles Bregi, after Stuart's death.

She married the love of her life, Ronald A. Jackowski on July 25, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois.  Mary attended St. Joseph Mercy School of Nursing and worked in the busy labor and delivery unit. She took time off to raise her busy and growing family, which gave her tremendous joy. After many years at home, Mary continued her education and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from NIU in order to help provide for her children's college education. Afterwards, she worked passionately in long-term care nursing administration. She then went on to work as a staff nurse at a local family physician in Algonquin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ronald; her dear sister Kathleen; her beloved children Richard Jackowski of Island Lake, Gregory (Gina) Jackowski of Algonquin, Annette Moders of Algonquin, and Michael (Gina) Jackowski of Crystal Lake; and her ten cherished grandchildren, Hannah, Chloe, Julia, Sarah, Hagen, Abigail, Mia, Sophie, Ethan and Alexa. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mary loved traveling, geocaching, the theater and spending time with her many treasured friends. Ron was always by her side and their retirement was spent at their quaint lakeside cottage in the Northwoods of Eagle River, WI, traveling the world, attending countless concerts and plays, and most of all, spending time with her beloved grandchildren.  She was also an avid reader and could often be found by Ron's side on the pontoon boat. The memories and experiences Ron and Mary created for both their children and grandchildren are priceless.  She will be missed dearly by all.
