Eileen J. Todd (Hamel) age 75, of Algonquin passed away on May 19th, 2019 at Northwestern Centegra Memorial Hospital in Huntley with her family by her side.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 15, 1944 the daughter to Raymond and Madelaine (Desagher) Hamel. She graduated from Lakeview High School in Chicago. She married the late Thomas N. Todd in 1965, and they lived together in Schaumburg where they raised Kelli and Tommy.
Eileen was the matriarch of the family. Many woman and mothers are very good but it takes a special individual to build roots for many generations to come and be the matriarch. Eileen had a gift to exude a motherly figure to anybody from any walk of life, let alone her own family. She was fearless in her ability to say exactly what was on her mind, but always with love and support. If you heard ‘You’re an idiot’ it was always with a smile and it warmed your heart to hear it because you knew you were part of her ‘special’ group. There are many ways to describe Eileen but her generosity with her time, her advice, her ability to listen and provide support to numbers of people and the way she loved with her entire heart will be remembered.
Eileen is survived by her loving son, Tommy (Jeanne) Todd; her cherished grandchildren, Michael (Fiencee Iga Cyganczuk) and Megan Todd;her siblings Charlaine (Roger) Scott, Sonny (Jill) Hamel, Richard (Arlene) Hamel, Joyce (the late LeRoy) Leske; she is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Eileen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas N. Todd in 1994, and her daughter Kelli C. Kuster in 2014.
Friends are invited to gather with Eileen’s family for a memorial visitation on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm with a 4:00 pm prayer service at Willow Funeral Home & Creation Care 1415 W. Algonquin Rd. (one mile east of Randall Rd.) Algonquin/Lake In The Hills.
