David Bova Obituary
David Alan Bova passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 61. He was surrounded by his family early Wednesday morning, August 8, 2018, at his home in Algonquin, Illinois. He was born in Chicago on October 1, 1956 to the late Margaret and Herbert Bova. In his younger years, Dave played goalie on the traveling hockey team, and later graduated from Homewood-Flossmoor high school in 1974. He went on to graduate from Millikin University with a degree in Music in 1978. He was also a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Dave was a percussionist at heart, and taught music at Aptakisic-Tripp Middle School from 1978 to 1994. After teaching, he joined the UPS family for 18 years. Most recently, he worked with the import and export team in Elk Grove Village. Outside of work, he was an avid golfer and motorcycle enthusiast. He carded his only Hole-In-One at Randall Oaks Golf Club on May 4, 1986, and passed his love and knowledge of the game down to both of his children. Dave also passed along his unique sense of humor. He never took himself too seriously, often laughing himself to tears at everything from the Three Stooges, to South Park, to Step Brothers, and everything in between. His adventurous spirit carried him through countless road trips across the continent. His last ride in May was more than 2,000 miles “Around The Lakes”. He was a lifelong fan of the Sox, Blackhawks, Bulls, and of course...DA BEARS.
Along with extended family members, he leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law, John and Claudine Bova, his significant other, Karen Durdon, the mother of his children and then-wife, Peggi (Bova) Soukup, his son, Dan Bova, daughter and son-in-law, Emily (Bova) and Josh Simon, grandson Keegan, and unborn granddaughter due in December.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Randall Oaks Golf Club, 4101 Binnie Rd., West Dundee, Illinois. Friends, co-workers, and anyone who loved Dave are welcome to visit with his friends and family from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A light lunch and refreshments will be provided. We look forward to seeing any pictures you may have, and cannot wait to hear all the great stories that go along with them.
